Jamie McIntyre “Exposed” & Google

Court orders Google to hand over details.

I was just interviewed by Smartcompany.com.au about a court case involving Jamie McIntyre & Google. The Supreme Court has ordered Google to hand over “details” of the site jamiemcintyreexposed.com to Jamie McIntyre as they had a advertising relationship with the site. As you can imagine by the name of the site, it does not say very nice things about Jamie McIntyre.

Presumably at one point the site was running Google Adsense. Mr McIntyre’s lawyers have tried hard to find the owner of the site and even used private investigators but to no avail. So the last resort was to sue Google and get them to hand over their Adsense details. As you can see from our own Adsense account information below, they’re not going to get much out of Google aside from a address that could possibly lead them to the site’s owner, who they could then presumably take legal action against.

How long ago Adsense stopped running on the site is anyone’s guess, however the owner of the site would be pretty naive to think they would not be pursued by the person they were targeting. Why on earth would you put Adsense on a site like this anyways? Will Google still even have any details still to give? Is their Adsense account even still open? There’s quite a few variables at play here.

Outrageous claims

The claims by News Ltd publications that this case will,” open the floodgates to online litigation against anonymous online commentators” is complete nonsense. If people are running sites anonymously to defame others they will simply turn their Adsense off and once again they are hidden. Although It looks as though Mr McIntyre’s lawyers have been successful in having some of the content removed index. However there are still another 30 pages in the index that could still rank. Here are the steps I recommend for online reputation management.
