Google algorithm response to JCPenney spam

by Jim February 23, 2011

In my post on web design last week I explained how I thought bad web design was behind the need for JC Penney to buy back links and therefore prompt Google to become more aggressive when it comes to sifting out dud back links. This week I take a look at how we have seen a massive drop off in back links being counted in webmaster tools.

Online Retail Forum 2011

We had yet another Federal Government sponsored talkfes- err conference on the importance of the Internet to business. Whilst our federal Government has zero credibility when it comes to the Internet because of their ludicrous stance on wanting to censor the Internet, there were some really good case studies from actual online retailers. Today I pick up on a couple of the themes that came out of the conference and some of the chatter still going on with @philleahy @retailaustralia & @COSBOA et al. The tweet stream is interesting reading and I would encourage you to join the conversation.

I shouldn’t be too hard on Senator Conroy, let’s face it, he did introduce me to Wikileaks.
