SEO 10 years and 500 shows
Thanks for watching my SEO vids for the last 10 years

This week I wanted to share a couple of techniques I use when we’re on page one and look to climb higher.

1. Internal Linking

I look for internal pages that have the most authority and relevancy for my phrase and link them back to target page. This is similar to what I explained a couple of years ago with SEO Consultant. An easy way to identify page to link from, is to look under “Traffic to your site” in Search Console and then Internal Links. It will show you which page on your site has the most internal links according to Google. If it makes sense for the reader to do so get a link back to your target page from these important pages.

2. More Key Phrase Meta Data

Typically you can’t use your keyphrase in a 500 word article more than 3 or 4 times without it sounding spammy. If you’ve put your keywords in your alt tags, captions and filenames of images what is left? Sometimes if I’m looking for the edge I’ll use the title element in the links and images as well. It can be used on both links and images and tells the user (and Google) what the link or title is about. So if it’s useful to the user it’s handy for Google. Make sure if you do use it’s logical and descriptive.

When you are on page 1 it becomes a delicate operation to then get to no.1. Tread carefully.
