As a follow-up to yesterday's post golf changing filenames, I thought I just make a quick post about a case in point. Officeworks, Australia's largest office supplies retailer recently fell out of the Google rankings altogether. The reason for this is that they changed the way that they had their site built, and redirected a domain with out any regard to their Google ranking. They were ranking number one in Google for the phrase "office supplies", today they are nowhere to be found.
This illustrates the point completely that when you are redesigning or moving domains around or redirecting domains, you must take into account where you are ranked in Google. If you're unsure what I mean have a look at the video blog that I did yesterday.
