Don't rent if you want to rank

I had a lot of interest in last week's story on making your adwords work for you. As a follow up I have had a few clients recently who are locked in to their web developer and essentially rent their websites and didn't know it.

Usually it is a cheap way to get a website but if you can't move it or fully control it, then you are limited with your ranking options.
