Google Caffeine Live?

Remember the story on Google Caffeine I did back in August?

A lot of people have been "expressing some concern" (aka screaming) over recent ranking changes they are seeing in Google. Results have been bouncing around a lot in the last few days. Curiously the results are very similar to Google Caffeine the algorithm update that Google announced back in August.

Google also updated the Page rank on their toolbar so you may have a new rank yourself! Should you be concerned if it dropped?

Has geo targeting become decaffeinated?

Hi Stewart, I’ve noticed a few shifts in keywords since the first few days of November also (unfortunately at the time monthly KPIs are due!). What’s interesting though is the change in rankings between different geo views of google. E.g. for one specific term we were listed on page 3, our competitor pg 1 just a fortnight ago on Google.com (from AU IP). Now, neither of us are to be seen in the rankings (pg 16). Add gl=au at the end of the search query though and there appears the exact (and more favourable) results that we were seeing a fortnight ago without the gl parameter! (fyi, Google.com.au shows us both on pg 1, the Caffeine sandbox at pg 7, we have not selected a geo targeting location in our webmaster tools as we’re a globally targeted site, but we are hosted in Aus with .au and several other ccTLD redirects). I know this is only one example, but could it indicate that Google might be shifting its weight on some geo targeting factors for standard google.com results? And if so, I thought this would have worked more in favour of globally relevant sites...
