Google changes colours - Adwords conversions up?

Anyone else noticing the colour change of the adwords links above organic search.

I'm seeing a yellow/cream background now instead of pale blue.

I think this will make a real difference to conversions for this spot. In my experience these spots get higher CTR but lower conversions than ads on the right hand side of the page. This has always made me think that people are clicking on them not realising that they are an ad.

I have recommended to clients in the past to aim for an adwords spot of 2 - 4 because they get good CTR and if your proposition is compelling good conversions. The top spot above organic though has always got a lot of accidental clicks. Maybe this change will make people realise they are clicking on an ad.

So if you are advertising in this spot be prepared for less clicks but higher conversions which should give you a better ROI over all.
